March Challenge - Alice in Wonderland

Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland was of course released last week and with it being a much-loved story to many of us, it was natural for us to use it as the inspiration to our March Challenge! So, we created a mood board for us to reference to and picked out some key colours for us to work with such as the ever-important Alice Blue, Cherry Blossom Mauve, Enchanted Forest Green, Queen of Hearts Red and Duck-Egg Blue.
First up is knittingguru's beautiful red heart scarf made with merino wool which I could totally see around the Red Queen's neck!Eikumpel has created these lovely felt bow brooches which you could pin anywhere you like! I particularly like it on the collar of a shirt and it is something Alice would absolutely love to wear! She also created the sweetest felt bow hair comb.Kristensteinfineart's original 'Enchanted Garden' painting is beautiful and takes you back to Alice's first venture into Wonderland where she meets the talking flowers and the Cheshire Cat.I (nuvonova) had Alice in mind when I created this white, polka dot tutu! I also wanted to include my key charm necklace that comes with a complimentary keyhole pouch!AllThingsPretty has this clutch bag with patchwork and appliques, beading, lace, shells, an antique mother of pearl button, flowers, claw-set rhinestone, turquoise gem, vintage sparkling embroidery and is so intricate and truly beautiful!Bibabijoux is offering this 'Romantic Bow Brooch' and this 'Red Aluminium Necklace' which again, is something I could easily vision on the Red Queen's neck! Happiknits created a pair of handknit merino fingerless gloves "in a perfectly feminine lilac which were inspired by Alice. The book, the movie, the song." She specifically loved the altered couture take on Alice's wardrobe in the new movie which I feel she has translated perfectly!
Norakaren has these sweet painted strawberries on vintage mary-janes which also have teardrop beads on them!
CliqueDaCour has this white tulle and lace dress with pink bow!

Tips for sellers: Important dates

New Year, new resolutions! One of my resolutions for this year was to increase the profile of Ei! Kumpel and to take my business more seriously.I will be sharing some of my thoughts with you, as sharing is one of the great pleasures in my life!

I will start with something very simple, but that sellers often forget: important dates! There are a couple of dates during a year for which you need to prepare, as that can lead to more sales.

Here is a little list that I have compile. Of course there are some dates that depend on your location.

Important dates for sellers

- Valentine’s day (February)

- St Patrick's day (March)
- Spring (March - for north hemisphere!)
- Easter (March/April)
- International Children's Day (May)
- Summer (June)
- Autumn/Fall (September)
- Halloween (October)
- Thanksgiving (November)
- Black Friday / Cyber Monday (November)
- Winter (December)
- Christmas (December)

And don't forget about:

- Mother's Day
- Father's day

I can't remember any other important dates, but if you have something to add to this list, please do so! Thanks!

Have a lovely weekend!

Jewel Tones

Our apologies for the big pause in our posts here at FDL - it's been a pretty busy few months for many of us but now it's time to get back into the swing of posting regularly to this blog and keep it interesting with our new inspirations, ideas and thoughts so please check back often!

Jewel colours are our hot topic this week... no easy task in choosing some great pieces to share with you at Etsy but the stunning stained glass panel above made by livingglassart, in a cool shade of sapphire will be a good start! The image speaks volumes... all that texture and vibrancy. This next image is of a print in juicy emerald shades...

...created by stilettoheights. So decadent.

The richness in these handmade glass bead bells of transparent topaz with their dark blue rims is soooo dreamy, almost like toffee! Artisticly made by NadinArtGlass

Last but not least, this beautiful ruby red mosaic ring, made by CrookedMoonMosaics is delightful too.

I have certainly found a few favourites on this search for jewel toned items... I feel an FDL team challenge coming on.... ;-)
See you again real soon
